The study contains a theoretical analysis of relevant profiling issues in the context of aviation security. The author concludes that these problems are caused, first of all, by the lack of an integrative and scientifically sound methodological basis for profiling, the insufficient widespread use of an integrated approach, the prevalence of empiricism in the profiles used, and, as a consequence of the first, the low level of training of specialist profilers. In the practice of profiling, mistakes and failures are not uncommon, which do not allow to ensure the necessary degree of security, including in the aviation sector. Despite this, aviation profiling in its various forms and forms as a modern method of forecasting and preventing potential and real security threats has significant prospects, especially if the results of scientific research in this area are timely demanded and used by practice.
