The article analyses the factors influencing the innovative activity of the economic entities of the South Federal District, offers a new evaluation system of the innovative activity that is based on the basis of the absolute and relative innovative activity criteria, reveals the levels of the explicit and the implicit innovative activity; shows the importance of the absolute innovations for the competitiveness growth of the enterprises under the conditions of the global competition.
