Primary revealing of mental retardation in children of Trans-Baikal territory: the social-demographic and clinical analysis

1125 out-patient records of children at the age from 0 till 14 years with diagnosis «mental retardation» were examined during the complete survey. It was revealed that in Trans-Baikal Territory there is a problem of late diagnosis of mental retardation. Thus the most unsuccessful situation develops in Territory's districts, and also in children of socially unsuccessful families (including children-orphans). It is, possibly, associated with underdevelopment of intra- and interdepartmental interactions. The obtained data will be used during development of the complex program of reforming of psychiatric service of Trans-Baikal Territory.
