This article examines the social ideas developed by Marina Tsvetaeva during the creation of her play «Fortuna», which speaks about the French aristocracy and revolution. Having been created in the post-revolutionary years, this play encompasses the poetess’ contemplation of the new self-identification personally and socially. The detailed analysis of the content and imagery of this play brings out Tsvetaeva’s perception of aristocratism as a quality of the spirit and of being true to yourself as a core quality of human personality. She presents an individual as a key hero in history and the axis of the Wheel of Fortune.
