Pythagoras and the Pythagorean school of education: a cultural and philosophical analysis

This article is devoted to the analysis of the cultural and philosophical heritage of the first think ers of the period of antiquity. In this article, based on factual material, the authors substantiate the secular and religious orientation of education in Ancient Greece. Referring to a wide range of sources from the history of ancient philosophy, the authors consider in more detail the teachings of Pythagoras and his followers. The following is an analysis of Pythagoras' activities related to the creation of the philosophical and religious school, the first in the ancient world. The main directions of the teaching of Pythagoras, called Pythagoreanism, are considered. The historical and cultural analysis of various areas of Pythagoreanism, ranging from the humanities to the exact sciences, is carried out. Based on the conducted research, the authors conclude that Pythagoreanism was the first ancient educational school. Then the authors connect the cultural and philosophical foundations with modern trends in the development of science and society, there by emphasizing the value of the ideas of Pythagoreanism.
