Pictogram representation of rating system as a psychological component of study support

The paper describes an original realization of an assessment system for students’ education achievements in the form of the pictograms of a human face or “Chernoff’s faces”. The similar method of diagnostics of study achievements is based on a congenital psycho-physiological abi-lity of a person to identify harmony of a human face image and to estimate the emotions reflected in mimicry. The scientific novelty of work is that the set of the digital estimated data of students is replaced with pictograms of the human faces having the major recognizable lines in the form of a positive or negative image in cases of success or failure. The creation of similar pictograms can perform a double constructive function: to serve as a tool of a complex assessment for the teacher, and, to serve as the instrument of stimulation of successful cognitive activity of the students. At this stage, the pictograms are used mostly for the teacher. The pictograms used relevantly and complied with the students’ outcomes help to represent a whole not discrete picture of educational achievements unlike charts, histograms, etc. Further, in our research we suppose to use the pictograms to increase motivation to learn research subjects.
