The research analyzes the views of K. Popper and B. Cassin, the representatives of analytic and continental philosophy. While using the term ‘Platonism’, both scientists construct the image of the enemy which allows them to articulate their philosophical position. Popper’s criticism of Platonism is characterized, and his approach to formulating the problem of justice without the identification of individualism with egoism is revealed. Reconstructing the views of the French postmodernist researcher B. Cassin, the author draws attention to the special interpretation of rhetoric and the effects of rhetorical twists in ancient Greece. It is reasoned that Plato, for Cassin, turns out to be the father of the authoritarian logic which also extends to language practice. Popper and Cassin’s positions are compared and conceptualized in the context of the classification of the so-called types of language problems given by the modern Russian philosopher N.S. Avtonomova.
