Play Gogol: a postmodern interpretation of the early Gogol in the series directed by E. Baranov

The conversion of the literary text of N. V. Gogol in modern cinematographic consciousness is studied based on artistic and visual material of E. Baranov's series "Gogol". Parallels between the romantic literary language and the modern visual language are revealed with regard to both artistic methods and anthropological ideals. The aesthetics and poetics of the series "Gogol" are analyzed through the prism of the concept of clip consciousness. The fragmentary composition of Gogol's novel "Terrible Revenge" is related to the principle of seriality, which in the 21st century has been successfully integrated into the literary text as a cultural code, and preliminary conclusions about the different nature of these techniques are expressed. In addition, the article uses examples of several different film adaptations of N. V. Gogol’s texts. It is shown that the author's position provokes screen receptions that include the image of Gogol in the artistic world of his characters, which justifies the analysis of the serial Gogol-world, carried out by the authors of the article...
