The slab with tamga-shaped signs from Kil-Dere 1

Бесплатный доступ

The excavations at the barbarian Kil-Dere 1 cemetery revealed a fragment of a stone slab with tamga-shaped signs. In the ancient times it was used in several stages: first tamgas were drawn on the slab surface, a hole for sacrifice and a drain cut in the slab, the slab was then deliberately damaged to be subsequently used as a construction material in the design of a burial structure during the final stage. The visual examination, study of a detailed 3D-model and comparative analysis of similar sculptures found in the Northern Black Sea maritime coast are helpful in revealing a number of common traits suggesting that such slabs were employed for making sacrifices.
