The article discusses the problems of transition to a new system of higher education in Russia. The author builds the prediction of the ineffectiveness of the next reform on the analysis of the positivist methodological approach to the educational process and the reasons for ignoring the dialectical method of cognition. The author has implemented a historical approach to the analysis of the theory of knowledge with a focus on that of G. Hegel. The stated position will be of interest to specialists in the field of education, both theorists and practitioners.
