The article outlines a brief historical aspect of the preparation of a civil case for trial as an independent and mandatory stage of civil proceedings in domestic proceduralism since ancient times and including an analysis of its modern content from the point of view of the current procedural legislation as a condition for lawful and justified consideration in the judicial procedure of the claimed dispute and the adoption of a reasoned decision.
