Aim. This paper aims to develop and implement a structured program designed to prepare children in their seventh year of life to meet the physical fitness standards of the GTO complex (1st stage) within a preschool educational setting. Materials and methods. This study was conducted across three kindergartens. Participants were children in their seventh year of life, allocated into two experimental groups and one control: Experimental Group 1 (EG1, n = 19, kindergarten No. 174, Ulyanovsk), Experimental Group 2 (EG2, n = 13, Svetlyachok, Kuzovatovo), and a Control Group (CG, n = 12, kindergarten No. 6, Novospasskoye). EG1 and CG participated in a specifically developed program designed to prepare children for the GTO complex while fostering cognitive development. This program was structured into two modules: physical development and cognitive development. The primary objectives of the physical module were to enhance motor skills, strength, endurance, and flexibility. The cognitive module aimed to enhance knowledge of national physical culture traditions, health concepts, and the GTO complex standards. Implementation was achieved through national outdoor games of the peoples of Russia – targeting agility, endurance, accuracy, and reaction speed – complemented by specialized game exercises, physical education lessons, and quests. EG2 underwent preparation for the GTO complex through supplementary activities, outdoor exercises, and tourist hikes. Results. Comparative analysis of the GTO complex test results demonstrated a significant positive effect of the preparatory process. Both specialized physical training through engaging forms and the incorporation of domestic traditions in physical education contributed to high levels of standard attainment. The comparative results from study groups in meeting the GTO complex standards underscore the importance of designing an educational environment that organically integrates the active involvement of family and social partners. This approach necessitates the future identification and selection of a diverse range of public associations for program implementation. Conclusion. The study results indicate that the developed and implemented program effectively prepares 7-year-old children to successfully meet the standards of the GTO complex.
