Preparation of students in national research universities for innovative activity in conditions of a competence approach

Describing the technical discipline "Fundamentals of engineering creativity and patenting" the article discusses the potential of integrated academic disciplines for shaping students ability to conduct innovative engineering activity as to the requirements of the Federal State Education Standard of Higher Professional Education of the third generation. The authors come to the conclusion that studying the above mentioned discipline students acquire all competences necessary for a successful implementation of innovative engineering activity.
