The poetics of the novel “Churov and Churbanov” by Kseniya Buksha: duplicity or paired relationship?

Бесплатный доступ

The purpose of the article is to consider two variants of intersubjectivity - duality and pairing. The compositional structure of the novel focuses on the interaction of the two characters: each chapter is dedicated to either Churov or Churbanov. In the novel, Churov and Churbanov can be perceived as doppelgangers. But their lives and values differ significantly, they do not dispute each other’s ontological status. The complexity of the characters’ interaction is explained by the fact that pairing in the novel is present as a narrative strategy, which does not affect the hero’s life world until the very end, remaining at the level of the author’s and reader’s vision.
