Production of Laminated Composite Based on High-Speed Steel by Induction Surfacing

The paper is devoted to the study of the possibility of obtaining deposited layers based on powder high-speed steel 10R 6M5 by induction deposition. Compositions of the deposited mixture satisfying the technology are selected and flux composition based on molten borax with boric acid and a number of oxides is proposed. Technology has been developed, deposited layers based on high-speed steel have been obtained and studied. It is shown that the structure of the deposited layers is austenite cells with martensite inclusions, as well as ledeburite eutectic along the perimeter of the cells. According to X‑ray phase analysis, a number of carbides such as M12C, M6S, M2S and MS are observed in the surfacing composition, which are characteristic of high-speed steels obtained by various methods (casting, plasma surfacing, sintering, etc.). It is shown that hardness of high-speed steel deposits varies 10R 6M5 from 61 to 65 HRC, depending on technological conditions of deposit.
