The article analyzes scientific approaches to the concept of illicit trafficking in weapons, ammunition, explosives and explosive devices, formulates the signs of this phenomenon and reveals their content. The classification of groups of crimes included in illegal arms trafficking is given, the necessity of attributing administrative offenses to illegal arms trafficking is justified. The public danger of illegal drug trafficking is considered through harmfulness and precedent setting, as well as through social, political, economic and psychological aspects. Statistical data on the state of crime in the field of illegal arms trafficking and its use for criminal purposes are analyzed.
