The concept of the fold in the works of Merleau-Ponty and Deleuze and its cinematic projections (the case of films by V. Abdrashitov and S. Loban)

The article studies the concept of the fold (le pli) from the point of the history of philosophy in the context of works of such philosophers as M. Merleau-Ponty and G. Deleuze, stressing the key value of the fold for understanding the transformation of unclassical philosophy (phenomenology) into post-non-classical (post-structuralism). In the philosophy of M. Merleau-Ponty the given concept is aimed at overcoming the subject-object paradigm while the subject category is maintained. However, in the system of G. Deleuze the fold acquires the categorical status and appears as a new form of subjectiveness. The author uses the films by V. Abdrashitov and S. Loban as an illustrative material in which the analyzed concept takes a form of conceptual images.
