The article discusses the concept of “spell”, which is first found in the book of Joshua and is the semantic fundamental concept of “holiness”. The article also describes the use of the human rite by God’s chosen people, which was used to defeat the enemy and which has its origin from the pagan environment and was called the “spell”. It is interesting and unique that this rite is sublimated and allowed by the Lord God. This shows the creative relationship between God and the people. The people find and use the available means for the sake of preserving and strengthening their relationship with God, which shows their creative potential, which God views favorably. The article will consider the Scriptures in which the concept of “spell” is encountered, the historical context of this term, archaeological discoveries that illustrate the effect of this rite and that, together with the interpretations of the holy fathers, gives us a more complete picture of this concept.
