The paper inspects what has traditionally been taken for granted by most linguists - the definition of fundamental concepts in Semiotics, i.e. motivation, conventionality, and arbitrariness. We seek to know how these elements of Semiotics co-exist in a given language system and classify nominal units of a language given, i.e. words and other various set-phrases according to the correlation of the three defined semiotic characteristics.
