Proverbs and sayings as an object of study in linguistics

In this paper proverbs and sayings are considered from the linguoculturological point of view. Despite the sufficient study of these units in linguistics, their description remains relevant, as at the present stage of scientific development there are attempts to consider proverbs and sayings from the linguoculturological perspective as stereotypes of folk consciousness. Such a study of proverbs allows a deeper and more accurate reflection of its content aspect, to trace the sources, as well as to consider the issue of background knowledge.
