The potential of emotive causatives from a position of functional approach

The functional approach allows us to consider the elements of the formation of complex language systems consisting of multi-level elements. We consider a system of linguistic means that actualize the meaning of causation and emotivity. To the prototypes of the means of actualization of these two categories refer emotive causatives - verbs of interpersonal semantics, the meaning of which fixes the result of the emotional impact of the causator on the causation object. But the causation of the modification of the emotional state can be actualized not only by a separate lexeme, but also by a functional structure, that is, a synthetic causative, where the causative meaning is realized by the causative verb, and the emotive meaning is realized by the noun phrase. Analyzing the situation of emotional modification from the point of view of linguistic expression, we observe another class of linguistic means, the functional potential of which also includes the role of the emotive causative. The difference between interjections lies in a broader semantic potential, depending on a variety of linguistic and extralinguistic factors. Another means of expressing the causation of emotional modification are interjection phraseological units. They represent an example of the process of pragmaticization and to exactly the same extent perform the functions of an emotive causative, as well as a lexical or analytical causative, but here we are dealing with an expression established over time, with a fixed function of inducing positive or negative emotions.
