Potential, development features, tourism prospects in Turkmenistan

This article discusses the tourist potential of Turkmenistan. General characteristics of Turkmenistan and statistical data on development of this industry are given. Key factors attracting tourists to Turkmenistan are pointed out. The economic and political reforms taking place in recent years have contributed significantly to the favorable development of the tourism industry in Turkmenistan. After analyzing the political, economic, cultural, historical, and environmental situation in Turkmenistan, the authors come to the conclusion that this country has a deep potential and broad prospects for the development of tourism. It is pointed out that tourism in Turkmenistan is becoming the important sector of national economy. The article contains references to research of other authors on tourism in Turkmenistan. The leading role of the Russian State University of Tourism and Service in training of personnel in tourism industry and development of partnership between the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan has been emphasized. Thus, the article examines the tourism potential of Turkmenistan, its structure, prospects for development and use, the authors also carried out the systematization of tourist resources, revealed the spatial patterns of tourist objects.
