A. Platonov's novel “Vprok” in literary and political context

Бесплатный доступ

The article is concerned with the literary and political context of A. Platonov’s story “Vprok”. The art structure of the novel “Vprok” represents “polylog” of the writer with I. Stalin’s articles, views of M. Gorky on “raskrest’yanivanie” of the village, feature articles of the early 1930th, and A. Chayanov’s theory on “cooperative collectivization”. A. Platonov elaborates Stalin’s idea of “excesses” during collectivization to the point of absurdity and, using popular for the Soviet literature form of chronicles, presents another view on Stalin’s collectivization. Without accepting M. Gorky’s “antipeasant” position, Platonov shares A. Chayanov’s views on collectivization as a gradual process of the Soviet village integration into the process of transformations occurring in the 1930th.
