Digital era, mediatization musical culture cause the creation of new concepts for many phenomena. However, on closer examination, at times it may be that the "new" - it''s just a modification of the "old" in other contexts, different environment. This article discusses the methods of presentation of music in the modern media environment. The same musical phenomenon is presented in the aspect of their sociological and aesthetic functions. Appealing to the musicological reservoir works, reveals the continuity of the development study of musical phenomena. On an example of the test material in the article is an attempt to draw attention to events, the nature and analysis of which are in a plane different but adjacent to each other sciences: aesthetics, sociology of music, musicology.
