The article presents the results of the study of the reliability of the welded seam of the roller flange of the soil cultivator. Information is provided on the steel grade of the product and the welding method. The main causes of product defects that occur during manufacturing and operation are described. The main reasons for the formation of defects are the occurrence of stresses at the places where parts are welded (flange and shank). However, premature failure of the rollers during operation also occurs under the influence of static and dynamic forces, this leads to a decrease in the strength of the unit and the destruction of the mating. The main directions for eliminating the resulting stresses and increasing the service life of the rollers are indicated. A method for reducing the magnitude of stresses is given. The described method is highly productive for agricultural enterprises, since it ensures stable formation of joints without a significant increase in the cost of the product. The purpose of the conducted research is to increase the strength of the weld after semi-automatic or automatic welding of the working unit of the roller by removing the resulting stresses by heat treatment and tempering. The conducted studies allow to significantly increase the stability of operational properties of the welded seam of the roller flange and its service life. The conclusions are given, which reflect the results of the study of the change in the hardness of the welded seam depending on the tempering modes, and the dependences of the change in the service life of the welded seam on the hardness of the seam material after tempering are obtained.
