The study discusses the issues of teenage combatants’ cognitive interest formation and educational-research activity that provide the development of training parameters self-control. The study involved twenty 13-14 years old teenagers from the all-style karate club “Sparta”. The links between cognitive interest and self-control function reflected in the structural components of educational-research activity (such as wide motivational and value support of educational-research activity; the development of attitude to mastering the educational material on physical culture; the need to learn new things; the desire to overcome the difficulties of studying; the favorite mastered exercises that you want to demonstrate in front of the class; the stability of cognitive interest manifestations; the change of motivation from “what I can” to “ready to master new things”) were revealed based on the methods of scientific research, including correlation analysis (Statistica 8). A criterion scale has been developed for assessing various manifestations of 13-14 years old combatants in educational-research activity in terms of training activity parameters self-control. The recommendations ensuring training activity self-control update among teenage combatants in a context of cognitive interest and educational-research activity combined development are set.
