Pragmatics of modal expressions of possibility

This article deals with a description of the pragmatic potential of modal statements of possibility. The article gives an analysis of speech acts with the explicit modal component. Particular attention is given to the relations between sentences and statements, language and speech. The results of the study contribute to the further development of the theory of the functional-pragmatic field.
