Pragmatic application of lexical transformations in literary translation

Lexical transformations are considered as the most effective means of conveying pragmatic aspects in literary translation. In the cited examples from the Russian translation of the novel by Harold Robbins “The Pirate”, lexical transformations are analyzed as a way to achieve maximum equivalence and adequacy in translation.
