Legal regulation of the formation of the House of Lords in the United Kingdom

The British Parliament is the most unique legislative body in the world. The House of Lords stands out from other upper houses of parliament in the order of formation of its composition and powers due to the peculiarities of the Westminster system of government. However, at the present stage of the constitutional development of Great Britain, the need to reform the upper house of parliament in order to democratize this body of government is becoming more acute. The article discusses the gradual reform of the procedure for the formation of the House of Lords, as well as the current state of affairs. Special attention is paid to the problem of the formation of the House of Lords as one of the key areas for further reforms. By studying the experience of legal regulation of the formation of the composition of the upper house of the British Parliament, it is possible to predict possible directions and scales of further changes.
