Legal regulation of voter orders in the subjects of the Russian Federation

The article deals with the issues of legal regulation of the institution of voter punishment in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. Based on the results of the analysis of federal legislation, it is concluded that the subjects of the Russian Federation are endowed with broad independence in the legal regulation of this form of direct democracy at the regional level. A study of the development of regional legislation on voter orders has been carried out, statistics on the adoption and abolition of laws on voter orders in the regions have been given. The authors note the fact that a large number of voter mandate laws were passed in the 2000s. Based on the results of the study, it was proposed to adopt a “framework” federal law on voter orders, which could give a significant impetus to the development and dissemination of this institution at the regional and municipal levels.
