This article is devoted to the current issues of legal support for the institution of medical confidentiality in the Russian Federation at the present stage. Everyone in the modern world has the right to privacy. However, there are times when it is necessary to share personal information, such as during a doctor’s appointment, and the patient must be confident that the information will not leave the doctor’s office. Moreover, maintaining confidentiality not only fosters trust in individual cases but also contributes to a healthier society as a whole. People who are confident in protecting their personal data are more willing to seek medical help, which ultimately leads to earlier detection of diseases and an improvement in the general health of the population. In this regard, the purpose of the article is to provide a general overview of the laws that ensure the confidentiality of medical data and the nuances of law enforcement in the relevant field. Special attention is paid to the interpretation of medical (medical) secrecy in Russian legislation. The article also discusses the difficulties that have been and are being encountered in the release of medical data, as well as the legal aspects of medical confidentiality.
