The article examines the federal regulations that consolidate the legal status of a student in Russia. The types and conditions of providing state support measures to students who have shown outstanding abilities during the educational process are analyzed. The authors reveal the legal status of the student in accordance with the local acts of K.E. Tsiolkovsky KSU.
