The legal status of the legislative (representative) body of the subject of the Russian Federation

This article is devoted to the issue of the legal status of legislative (representative) public authorities of the subjects of the Russian Federation. The author examines the concept of "status" and correlates it with related categories, reveals the legal regulation of the legislative activity of the subject of the Russian Federation. The author concludes that the Representative body of the subject of the Russian Federation is elected by citizens in accordance with the principles of universality and equality. The term of office of this body is determined by federal legislation and the constitution (charter) of the subject.
