Legal and organizational bases of public control over the activities of the police

The study of issues concerning the peculiarities of the institution of public control over the activities of the police is one of the conditions for improving the effectiveness of regulation of public relations in the context of the formation of civil society in the Russian Federation. The authors, analyzing the regulatory legal framework and law enforcement practice in this area, emphasize that the institution of public control is of paramount importance from the standpoint of the implementation of such principles of police activity as openness and publicity, as well as public trust and support of citizens, and also substantiate that the presence of public control over the activities of the police contributes to the embodiment of such a sign of a right-wing state as mutual responsibility of the state and the individual.
