The active use of genomic and post-genomic (omix) technologies in various areas of modern human life, the use of biological material and genetic information requires an interdisciplinary (from the standpoint of law, biomedicine and bioethics) study of these phenomena. Purpose: to identify, as a result of an interdisciplinary study, the possibilities of using biological material and genetic information for medical purposes and to determine fundamental approaches to further improving legislation in this area. Methods: the authors use empirical methods of comparison, description, interpretation as well as theoretical methods of formal and dialectical logic. Such special scientific methods are used as legal-dogmatic, comparative jurisprudence and interpretation of legal norms. Results: the study makes it possible to assess the state of affairs and establish fundamental approaches to further improving national legislation on the use of biological material and genetic information, taking into account the introduction of genomic and omix technologies; to determine the vectors of the use of these technologies in practical health care; to identify the medical applications of living cell products; to justify the need for constant monitoring of this area in medicine; and to argue for the introduction of international experience in legalizing the use of living cells in combination with aids and medical supplies.
