Legal traditions in the postmodern era: national experience and development prospects

Against the background of the crisis of the Eurocentric approach to law, interest in one’s own legal heritage, legal traditions, and the preservation of continuity in law is growing. Meanwhile, it is impossible to do without legal acculturation, borrowing provisions from other legal cultures, primarily of friendly countries. Taking into account the specifics of Russia’s legal development, its belonging to the Eurasian legal family can be established. Legal policy of Russia should be aimed at: a) taking into account one’s own legal heritage and legal traditions; b) reducing the borrowing of regulations, values and state institutions of the legal cultures of unfriendly countries; c) active introduction of modern domestic jurisprudence into legal practice and education; d) development of a regulatory framework taking into account the legal achievements of the Eurasian legal family, as well as the state institutions adequate to the legal mentality and legal culture of our people.
