The subject of the article is continuity in the process of development and formation of a competitive Russian engineer, associated with the ideas of continuous education and professional mobility. The main topic is the role of continuity in the process of training highly qualified, competitive and capable engineers. The analysis of psychological-pedagogical, sociological and philosophical sources shows that the personal formation of a competitive Russian engineer is more successful if the system of its formation is connected with the process of psychological-pedagogical training. The aim of the work i s to analyze the development of fundamental personal qualities of students, which are the basic success of learning in high school and the formation of a competitive specialist. The system of its development is connected with the process of psychological and pedagogical training: it creates favorable conditions and opportunities for students to master positive spiritual, emotional and social values. The methodology of the work consists in the search for a set of theoretical and methodological approaches, on the basis of which the principles of continuity and methods of formation of readiness of students for highly qualified, competitive engineering activities are determined. The results of the work contain the analysis of metasubject competences used in the process of formation of a competitive Russian engineer. The scope of the results is the process of training highly qualified, competitive engineers. The main role in the development of continuity of school and higher professional education is played by the requirements not only to preserve but also to develop the system and fundamental nature of education in the profile school. Conclusion. Continuity in the development and formation of a competitive engineer contributes to the education of educational results in the process of training highly qualified specialists. It determines his self-knowledge, self-determination, self-realization, and also contributes to the acquisition of experience of socialization and adaptation in society.
