Advantages of using authentic resources and tasks when teaching a foreign language for specific purposes

Authentic materials are regarded as an important component in the process of learning a foreign language and teaching this discipline at all levels. In the presented work, a descriptive methodology is applied, which contributes to clarify the topic of the research undertaken. The article discusses the advantages of using authentic materials when teaching a foreign language for special purposes. The author defines and analyzes numerous authentic tasks that contribute to the development of communication skills of learners studying English as a foreign language. Authentic materials have a huge impact on students due to their contribution and familiarity with the language they provide. The purpose of this study is to improve the conversational skills of higher school students, motivate them to learn a foreign language and increase their awareness of the importance and effectiveness of authentic resources, such as articles from authentic periodicals, news bulletins, videos, etc. It is concluded that authentic materials and resources increase spontaneous participation of learners, confidence in oral expression and significantly reduce the use of the native language in the classroom.
