This paper attempts to understand the crisis state of modern society through the concepts of pessimism and postmodernism within a synthesis of socio-philosophical lore. Postmodernism is examined in the context of its relationship with a more architecturally rooted pattern of social behavior and philosophical analysis, as a pessimistic view of the world. Their mutual legitimation as a worldview driven by social, economic and political reasons, on the one hand, and a philosophical concept, on the other, are presented through an analysis of the main postmodernism characteristics. The above brief review of the views of modern researchers of this philosophical trend has revealed the ontological similarity of the casual constructions under study, as well as an outline of a possible way to overcome them at the level of individual consciousness in a "network" society. Societal transformation processes should be based on a change in the individual preferences of each member of society to meet the requirements of the "information" state of society with the aim of spreading qualitative processing skills of quantitative information, including those using artificial intelligence.
