The article is devoted to the analysis of the development of the main trends in modern culture post-totalitarian society. Special attention is paid to the characteristic of specific difference of overcoming the adverse impact of totalitarism in Russia and in Germany as well as in other countries. Culture in post-totalitarian society is considered as a long, complex and contradictory process, Examines this system in Russia, Georgia, Belorussia, Ukraine, Tadjikistan and in other post-soviet republics. The article notes that in a number of newly established states in the post-soviet is in the process of revival of totalitarian forms government, first of all in the field of culture and spiritual sphere. The article reflects also the question of how the problem of overcoming of totalitarian past is solved in other countries. After the collapse of the socialist system and the dissolution of the USSR there were established organizations in a number of European countries designed to investigate the crimes of totalitarian regimes.
