The article concerns the basic points of view on understanding of the essence of notion differentiation in education, which exist in methodical and scientific-technical literature. We also consider teaching mathematics in various profile directions. The basic principle, which seems to be necessary in profile education while realization of differentiated teaching mathematics, had been revealed on the base of results of the given analysis and from the essence of differentiation in education.
