Teaching the German language at the educational institutions of Buryatia: condition, challenges and perspectives

The article describes the condition, challenges and perspectives connected with teaching German as a foreign language at the educational institutions of the Republic of Buryatia. The author gives some statistical data witnessing a significant decrease of its learners in the reg ion. In the author's opinion, the joint activity of the Germanists of the republican educational institutions with the colleagues from the Federal Republic of Germany, Switzerland, Austria in implementing international projects in education, science and culture, intensified work of the Regional association of the German teachers contribute to popularization of the language and enlarge the possibilities of its teaching and learning.
