The article discusses the kinematic diagram of an automated measuring device for monitoring the outer diameter of a part using a rolling roller. The device is used for fine turning and semi-finish grinding of large diameter parts. The principle of operation is based on measuring the rotation speed of the rolling disk using a photoelectric converter based on a semiconductor photo element. The device generates control commands into the machine circuit to change the level of its settings in order to compensate for processing errors associated with wear of the cutting tool (cutter or grinding wheel). A method is given for calculating the diameter of the disk and corrections to the measurement result, which depends on the manufacturing error of the disk. A calculation of the measurement error is also given, which shows that the error does not exceed the permissible value.
