Application of artificial intelligence tools by Russian students in preparing their final qualification work

The article defines the features of the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies by Russian students in writing final qualification works that meet all established requirements. In July 2024, the author conducted an online survey of 46 graduates of the Bashkir State Medical University and the Bashkir State Pedagogical University. Conclusions are made that the respondents are aware of AI tools, have a positive attitude towards their use in the educational process, and often resort to them in the process of writing their final qualification work (mainly to help with translation from foreign languages, check grammar and spelling, edit text to meet the requirements of scientific style, and identify borrowings). The student initiative to use AI tools in completing educational tasks is in line with the global trend, but it turned out to be outside the scope of regulation In Russian higher education, which gives rise to professional, organizational and ethical problems, as a result of which trust in the positive potential of artificial intelligence is undermined. This, in turn, actualizes the issue of the need to develop a consensus and form a generally accepted regulation for the use of AI technologies in the educational process. It seems that with the introduction of such regulations and systematic scientific supervision of the use of AI tools in the educational process, the educational experience will become richer and more diverse, and higher education will be able to take advantage of a valuable innovative asset that has become one of the decisive factors in the modernization of education around the world. Theoretical and / or practical significance lies in the systematization and generalization of new data, recommendations for promising activities of the Russian pedagogical community regarding the use of AI tools in higher education.
