360-degree feedback method used to reveal professionally important qualities of a deputy-commander of the platoon

Introduction. The relevance and significance of the study is determined by the necessity of revealing professionally important qualities by means of scientifically proven and optimal research methods as well as providing the uniformity and objectiveness in the process of establishing the degree of suitability of the applicant for the position of a deputy-commander of the platoon. The objective is to identify professionally important qualities of a deputy-commander of the platoon via 360-degree feedback method. Materials and Methods. The sample covered 362 persons involving three categories of the respondents: chief officers of learning and line subunits, deputy-commanders of platoons, cadets of the educational organization of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service. The empirical study was carried out via 360-degree feedback method by means of completing the authors’ questionnaire for each of the three categories of persons under examination. The formula for calculating the total assessment of successfulness and correlation analysis were employed. Results and Discussion. The authors revealed the most essential and professionally important qualities necessary for effective performance of a deputy-commander of the platoon: volitional self-control, the sense of collectivism, adequate self-esteem, the ability to motivate others, readiness to take up responsibility, stress resistance in a conflict. Conclusions. The data obtained indicates the possibility of revealing professionally important qualities, including of deputy-commanders of platoons in educational organizations of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service, the specifics of their activity taken into consideration.
