Application of facilitation methods in teaching master’s students to conduct discussions in a foreign language

The article presents various interpretations of the concept of “facilitation in the pedagogical process” and provides its definition. The main task of the teacher as a facilitator is highlighted - creating a learning environment that ensures the success of students, using educational technologies and techniques to increase their motivation, interest in self-development, autonomy as learners. The teacher's actions to create such an environment are defined. As an example, the facilitation techniques used by the teacher in practical classes on the discipline “Business Foreign Language” in developing the skills of master's degree students in conducting a discussion in a foreign language are considered. The facilitation techniques “Polarization of opinions” and “Delegation of authority” used at the information-preparatory and situational-discussion stages of the discussion are considered in detail. It is concluded that the described techniques contribute to the creation of a learning environment that creates conditions for the formation of foreign language competence, reduce the level of anxiety when speaking a foreign language, and motivate master's degree students to study a foreign language.
