Application of molecular marking methods for the evaluation of varietal qualities of seeds of simple sunflower hybrids

Varietal qualities of seeds are the primary question which is agitating both for sellers and for buyers of seeds. Varietal purity of seeds (hybridity level) is especially important for so called "heterotic" crops, such as hybrid sunflower, because in this case yield level directly depends on percentage of hybrid kernels in a sold party of seeds. The aim of this work was to evaluate of hybridity level (percentage of hybrid kernels) of simple sunflower hybrids on the basis of DNA-analysis. To do this polymorphism of micro-satellite loci was applied. The result of the experiment showed that polymorphism level of molecular marking system on the basis of DNA micro-satellite loci allows successfully apply it as a reliable laboratory method of evaluation of varietal qualities of hybrid sunflower seeds.
