The issue of the possibility of using polygraphic research in order to obtain information necessary for the disclosure and investigation of a criminal case is being considered. The generalization of domestic and foreign experience in the use of polygraphic research allows us to conclude that their use is possible only if there is a "perfect" legal framework that allows to fully protect the fundamental rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of the individual from arbitrary interference in the process of conducting such research. Purpose: to justify the relevance of the chosen topic; to analyze the possibility of using the results of the conducted research, examination with the use of a polygraph in the process of disclosure and investigation of committed crimes. Methods: dialectical method as a General, universal method of study, General scientific (analysis, synthesis), private scientific (formal-logical, formal-legal) methods of scientific knowledge. Results: the conclusions for and against the use of a polygraph as a way to obtain the necessary information in a criminal case are formulated. Conclusions: it is currently impossible to apply the conclusions obtained as a result of conducting examinations using a polygraph, since there is no legislative and methodological basis for this.
