The purpose of this article is to rethink the system of subjective modalities traditionally attributed to a work of art and personal style. The starting point is that a multilevel comprehensive study of a subject within the framework of the concept of cognitive pragmatic programs allows us to model both its basic “meta subjective” form and any specific variants of subjectivity. The object of the research is personal style in fiction as a special category requiring revision of traditional approaches. A unique personal style is sharply different from the traditional style, and the source of aesthetic modeling for a personal style can only be a source subject, a generator of a cognitive pragmatic program. The problematic status of the author’s authority in relation to the procedural nature of the text / discourse is reinterpreted within the framework of this concept. Each subjective modality is a special cognitive pragmatic position reflecting the specifics of the subject’s activity both at a certain stage of his own formation and within the discursive dynamics of culture. The system of subject modalities “subject source - subject interpreter” offers a new approach to the author’s vnenakhodimost’, linking various forms of subjectivity in the process of constant change of these status positions. The cognitive pragmatic program of the source subject appears as an artist’s “self assignment” - a model determinant of the entire subject linguistic space, within which a personal style is formed. The place of the habitual “image of the author” is occupied by a resultant linguistic subject - a stylistic personality as the highest form of linguistic, programmatically attributed to the text, immanent to it both in its “matrix” and in its discursivity. A stylistic personality is inseparable from style as a unique programming, for the full implementation of which a reader (subject interpreter) is required. The subject of a style is not a person, but a resultant text, i.e. information about a person taken in the aspects of a) unique self realization, b) a software generating function.
