Principles of drug situation monitoring

The situation in the sphere of trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors is subject to certain changes; therefore it requires constant monitoring and the adoption of timely and adequate preventive measures by law enforcement agencies, government agencies and public formations based on the analysis of its results. Monitoring and analysis of the drug situation is one of the urgent tasks of the state anti-drug policy and activities to combat illegal drug trafficking and the spread of drug addiction in the Russian Federation. According to the authors of the article, the assessment of the drug situation should be based on scientifically sound principles. The article reveals the content of such fundamental principles of monitoring as legality, scientific validity, purposefulness, representativeness, information sufficiency and others.
